Lovely, fully eco-scaped pond in Crawshawbooth, Rossendale

This beautiful, eco-scaped pond was expertly constructed by Ponds Northwest in the charming village of Crawshawbooth back in 2022.

The homeowners originally had a modest water feature tucked into their garden, but they dreamed of something more transformative, something that would bring a sense of tranquility and natural beauty to their outdoor space. They wanted a complete renovation that would blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape while offering a more organic, river-like feel.

To achieve this, we fully eco-scaped the pond’s interior using a combination of York rockery stone and river gravel. These natural materials were carefully selected and arranged to replicate the look and texture of a real riverbed, giving the pond a serene, untouched appearance.

We also used York rockery stone to build a cascading waterfall, which not only adds movement and sound to the space but also enhances the natural aesthetic. The same stone was used to edge the pond, creating a cohesive and visually pleasing perimeter that feels like it’s always been part of the garden.

One of the standout features of this pond is its low-maintenance, eco-friendly design. Rather than relying heavily on artificial filtration, the system is largely self-sustaining. We installed an Aquascape skimmer to help keep the water clear, along with a nutrient feeder that slowly releases beneficial bacteria. This natural approach helps control algae and blanketweed while also enriching the water with nutrients that support healthy fish and plant life.

The result is a peaceful, living water feature that not only looks stunning but also supports a thriving, balanced ecosystem—right in the heart of the garden.
