Magnificent Swim Pond Build in Croft
Our team of experts at Ponds Northwest constructed this magnificent swim pond in Croft, Warrington in 2025.
Our client had a vision for a grand and natural looking pond, which could also be utilised as a swimming pool for the families use. The client’s own builders dug out the area for the site of the pond, then we were contracted in to complete the project and bring his dream to life.
Ponds Northwest constructed a stunning and picturesque, self-sustaining, fully eco-scaped swim pond with natural filtration methods. Approximately, the pond holds an incredible 150,000 gallons of water.
We installed pond underlay with a durable, high quality, rubber liner which we then completely covered with rocks and river cobbles to create the natural look and imitate a natural riverbed. We crafted tiered levels around the perimeter of the pond and added large steps into the pond as an entry point for swimming, again using rocks and river cobbles.
The natural look on the exterior of the pond continued with a crazy paving path, constructed with York Stone and this compliments the whole setting.
Swim Pond Filtration
The filtration system installed is a continuation of the natural aspect, utilising large intake bays for natural filtration which keeps the water crystal clear and planted wetlands for the return. There are two intake bays, with two pump chambers in each bay. Each intake bay is approximately 5 meters squared and 6ft deep, and there are also two wetland areas. These are approximately 12 meters x 2 meters and 2 meters deep and are professionally planted out with marginals, specifically selected to help keep phosphate levels low and therefore restrict algae blooms. We also installed multiple air diffusers around the pond. These aid circulation and also add extra oxygen which facilitates the growth of beneficial bacteria and promotes biological filtration. There is no artificial or mechanical filtration of any kind and no UV filters.
